Hastings-on-Hudson, NY

Incorporated in 1879, Hastings-on-Hudson is situated on the east bank of the scenic Hudson River with spectacular views of the Palisades. Hastings is 19 miles from Grand Central Station, a 34 minute ride, and is served by Metro-North. The Saw Mill River Parkway on the eastern border gives access to all of Westchester County's major highways. Bus lines run to White Plains, Tarrytown, Yonkers and New York City. The John W. Draper Observatory, the home of Jasper Cropsey (a National Historic Landmark) and the Gallery in Hastings-on-Hudson (in the Municipal Building) exhibit many well-known artists. The beautiful library is well-equipped and its front lawn is adorned with a bronze sculpture by former Hastings resident, Jacques Lipschitz. The library was completed in 1967. Recreational facilities are well-provided for in the various parks and the Community Center Building.  A large tract of virgin woods, known as Hillside Park, has a skating pond with a shelter, a swimming pool complex for use by Hastings residents and a nature walk. Adjacent and to the east is St. Andrew's Golf Club, the oldest golf course in the United States. And to the south is the Sprain Brook public course. There are also two yacht clubs that maintain moorings in the Hudson River, and the Hudson River Tennis Club provides year-round courts.
